I disagree. The VW Golf 2 GTI 2.0 16v (even the earlier gti 1.8 16v of the the late 80's) was waaaaay better than most that time.

dont be DOM !

As a complete package Twincam was way ahead of everyone in '92...

Modern design, Instruments cluster, seats, the drive -> definitely was NOT the fastest, just like the GTi 5/6/7 was never the fastest hatch at the time...

Mk 2 GTI design was from 1985 , they just changd the bumpers... Dashboard was a BLOCK.... bbmhof

Bietjie of a late comment but I'm bored so I'll gooi in my 2bop ma. I disagree that the twincam was the hatch to have. The intrument cluster was dom, like WHO puts a battery voltage gauge in an instrument cluster? How functional is that lol, they were always reliable bcoz they were too slow to be pushed to their limits.
The mk2 GTi's however, came standard with disk brakes front and back, average speed indicator, distance travelled, oil temp meter, ambient temp meter and real time fuel consumption meter via the trip computer, two oil pressure gauges, adjustable and reclinable bucket seats... They were by far the better car to own.

BUMP for this sale!

Cape Town maybe, the rest of SA, jumbo GTI's are full on!
For its age, the MK2 GTI is STILL one of THE best handling cars today!
You can throw that car into anything and it sticks, I will buy another without even thinking twice!
