Quick question did you guys add to your package cost like recommended stuff todo or did you just ask around for stuff todo and pricing once there ? What was the cost involved or price difference letting the agent add it to your package vs you actually paying that side for certain stuff ?

We didnt add anything. We just booked there, we were a lekker group so we negotiated. We paid like R1k per person for an entire day on a boat, including water sports on a platform in the ocean. Sailed for an hour to neighbouring island where we were taken on a guided tour and then allowed to relax pool side at some resort on the side of the mountain. They collected us at the hotel provided breakfast and braaied on the boat as well. Obviously took us back to the hotel the evening.

Yes don't book any tours this side, book all your tours that side. plus you can use the stalls on the road.
Example a day trip to Gili island from STa is about 2k per person, we went with the guys on the road, return ticket was about R900 for both of us and then we decided to stay for 2 nights on the island which costed R1200.

My partner recently did 2 trips to Zim. Ticket prices are nuts and the traveling time is ridiculous.

Its insanity, I promised my kids I will take them on a flight but paying R9000 per ticket to Mauritius with moerse long layovers for a short trip is total insanity. I dont think i need to go to an institution yet lol. Seems like the far east it is then.
My wife and I went to Zanzibar and Mauritius and those were direct flights, 4-6 hours, one way with no layovers.

We also heading out to Bali later in the year, God willing, so I'll keep a close eye on this thread.

When we booked Bali in Dec 2017, we opted to do everything. Booked Accommodation, Flights..

Mistake we made was to live in one hotel and layover flights. We had our taxi driver for the 12 days we where there. He was an excellent Guide. he negotiated good rates for daily activities.

All-in-all it was n great experience.

Myself and the wife going to Singapore in December. booked a straight flight and we still doing our own planning.
