Well, it wasn't really aquaplaning. More like those sudden jerks when you hit small puddles.

Goodyear Eagle F1s- 80% tread left. These tyres have really good wet grip though.

yip, i had them on till yesterday.
they were superb in every way.
3 of them were getting a bit too worn and i either had to buy 3 or put on new tyres so i broke the bank and went for the latest Continental Sport 5.
still running them in but they feel good.
they are 225/45/17 -dont know what size yours are but i have 1 very good one and 3 ok ones if you need.

Aah I see. Mine's 18s but thanks though. They're still good. I have the Asymmetric 2s, will probably get the 3s when it's time.

good tyres with good thread wont stop aquaplaning, will reduce it sure but thats about it.
depending on speed and depth of water your best tyres can make you lose control of your car. Our tyres are mainly all rounders and we dont run winter specific tyres like many other countries so we just need to be abit more cautious in the wet...

i feel like im stating the obvious here

correct, thats why when it is slippery the rally cars all run what looks lime a marie biscuit, same with circuit racers.
@spoon i agree up to a point, when the water is super deep you can be fucked no matter what tire you got...but there are superb, good and bad tyres in the rain, some tyres do clear water better than others, also winter tyres only really become a factor when you into consistent single digit temperatures and have snow and slush- this is extremely rare in SA thus we do not really get winter tyres here as they would actually not be fit for purpose in our conditions.
