Good High Schools...

Postby herb1 » Fri Jul 12, 2019 10:34 am

Hey y'all

So I got my three girls in at Turfhall Primary, oldest in Grade 5...which means I need to start shopping for a good high school.

Turfhall set a good standard so I wanna maintain that continuity with the subsequent high school.

So, looking for a good high school close to Turfhall or surrounding areas...

...Suggestions?

i've been urging most people to apply for allan gray bursaries. you start the application in grade 6 and start updating the profile as needed. Some inside info i got is that one of their favourite schools to hand out bursaries for is Rustenberg girls. So if applying there you're already one step ahead of others applying at different schools and of course if your daughter meets the criteria then you'll score big time on fees.

If you don't mind the northern suburbs and going for Curro school then capitec is the place to apply for bursaries... however i do believe their staff kids get first preference. lucky me my ex managed to sort our daughter out for next year. However we're still deciding what to do as Kenilworth is very far from Durbanville... unless we move

For regular applications we also went to westerford, san souci and claremont high.

Claremont high was one we didn't really know much about. After speaking to some people we found out that they were actually started by Westerford and the teachers from Westerford are regularly rotating with the claremont high teachers. The school does not offer much in terms of sport but specialise more in academics and more specifically market themselves as a maths and science school. Alot of you will know Miro20xe from the forums... on the day i took in the application i actually bumped into him over there. He mentioned that he's kid went there as a last resort with the idea of moving to a different school the following year. However they liked the school so much they decided to keep him there and he is now applying for number 2 at claremont high as well. Gave good reviews around the academics and warned me not to send my daughter there if her focus is sports. Bonus is their fees... super cheap at 1k per month and a 3rd of your maxim budget.
